A Fall Pinterest Post....

Good Evening to you ...
It is a very rainy night here in New Brunswick and elsewhere, too,  so the news broadcast says..
We needed rain but perhaps not all at once.. smile..

Terry and I just got back from going for a rainy drive and having coffee and listening to the storm for a bit...
I love doing that ... Do you?

Anyway..
This is just a Fall Pinterest Post for you..
Some pins that have sort of inspired me or just turned my crank as they say.. smile..

Are you in the Fall or Autumn mode yet?
Here are some simple fall pleasures that I love..

Cozy evenings, canning, drying and preserves garden produce,  simple suppers, fall housecleaning, drives through the countryside with a sandwich and a thermos, pumpkin crafts, desserts and preserves, apple projects, autumn decor, home made breads and soups, delicious smelling candles and such...

Perhaps this little post will inspire you, too..

Thanks so much for your visit and so look forward to your comments..
Welcome to the new followers of the blog, too...
So glad to have you..
Don't forget the Facebook page at the top of the sidebar...
Let me know what you are doing for your Fall activities and busyness...

God bless sweet friends..

Keepers of the Home Meeting for September..

  Good Saturday Evening...
Hope you are having a great weekend..

We woke up to a lovely day here in N. B. and it was great to gather together in Salisbury at our little church fellowship hall for our first Fall Keepers of the Home meeting...

We had several ladies of different ages but hopefully everyone found something to interest them..

We started out by cooking a simple breakfast for us all..
Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Toast, Juice and Coffee...
Everyone helps out and we sit around and chat and catch up after the Summer..

We had a little group lesson on the Proverbs Woman  and her Fall Preparations for Winter..
It was fun and so nice to have everyone have a bit of insight into the Word of the Lord..

Proverbs 31:10-31New International Version (NIV)

Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character

10 [a]A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
    and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
    and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
    bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
    but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

We found she was a busy lady..

Even though it was dark outside  she arose early and made breakfast for her household..
She liked to experiment with different ethnic food and let her family enjoy her home made meals..
She gathered wool and flax and did some work with her hands..
Perhaps making gifts for her family and friends..
She works late at night getting ready for craft shows to make some extra money as she is a frugal woman..
She made winter garments for herself and her family ...
Also...
I think she liked change and had some new bed coverings made..
Probably warmer ones for the cold months.. eh??
She is a hard worker and is not idle ..
And mostly she loves the Lord and walks in his way showing her family the importance of serving God..

This is one take on this part of Scripture with the view of
her Fall preps..
Can you see some other ones?

We were pleased to have some old and new friends attend..

Then we learned to make a new Fall Potpourri..

And making Flavored Vinegars is so easy and useful, also..

An old fashioned way of placing tags on your pickles or such..

Just a piece of brown paper bag..
Dip it into milk and it will stick on so nicely..
When it is dry just put the name of your product on there...

Also ...
For Fall Decor..
A little rag bunting..

One could hang this on your door, under a window , on a fireplace mantel or even tie the rags on a some twinkle lights...
This is found on Pinterest...

Then my sweet cousin showed us a rug she is teaching to us next month..

She said all we need is an old sheet or two and a extra large crochet needle..
We are all looking forward to it...

Then we made our Mustard Pickles..

Everyone helped..
We peeled and sliced cucumbers and onions..
Others cut out the covers and wrote out all the recipes to tie on the bottles...

And our sweet Pastor's wife cleaned up after us all.. smile..

That is all for today, my friends..
Enjoy your evening and remember that tomorrow is the Lord's Day..

Thanks for your sweet visits and comments.
Hugs..

Morning Routine and Keepers..

Hello everyone..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth this evening..
Just a wee post for you all..

This morning I arose early...
It is a bit dark out but the coffee light was burning.. grin..

I love waking up early and doing my thing before Terry gets up..
When he first retired many years ago I told him there was one rule..
And it was that I needed at least an hour before he could get up..

So the first morning he called out to me..
"Can I get up yet?"
LOL..
I have laughed about that ever since...

But really when a couple are retired there are just some things that we need to give and take on and for me this was definitely an important issue.. smile..

He has things that I need to respect and if every once in awhile we get up the same time then no big deal but on a regular basis I need my wake up time..

I have a routine like most people ..
I always start the day with a time of prayer to the Lord and am so thankful for the blessings of yesterday and today...
Praying for protection for our sweet family and to have him guide our steps through the day...

Then I get my coffee and usually give my Mom a call..
Check my emails and such and do my lists for the day..
Then he can come out.. grin..

Do you girls have morning routines and perhaps a regulation or two?

On with the story..

I made a batch of spiced crab apples.. Terry found a tree at the farm with good apples on it...
Don't they look good?
Had some dear company while I finished up..
There were 2 bottles of the juice that I put up to have for our Christmas punch...

So my dears, this is all for now...

We are having a Keepers of the Home meeting on Sat. morning at 9 a.m.
If you live in Salisbury or nearby we would love to have you..
We are going to be making Mustard Pickles and a bit of Fall decor..
Just give me an email at houseofhenry@hotmail.com

Hope all is well with you all and may God bless you and keep you..

Back to P. E. I. for a 70 mile yard sale...

The Confederation bridge at 7 am....

So many cars and trucks...

Terry....

Love the sea gulls..

Simply beautiful cottage...

The famous red sand of P. E. I..

Point Prim Lighthouse where we ate lunch..

The beach at Prim Point...

grapevines..

Murray River..

Charolottetown, P. E. I..

Good Evening my dears..
Hope you all had a great weekend..
Terry and I had a fun day on Saturday..
We joined many people who did the 70 mile coastal yard sale on Prince Edward Island..

It was great and I must say that I have not seen so many yard sales and people in all of my yard sale days.. grin..
We woke up at 4 am and left by 5 am ... (must be crazy, eh?)
Anyway we had to go across the province to the south eastern part of the Island so that took about 3 hours from home..
We picked up Tim's coffees and breakfast sandwiches on the way and drove through Charlottetown about 8 am...
We just arrived on the other side of the city when we noticed cars  all along the Trans Canada Highway..
Sure enough the sales were everywhere with fleamarkets, too before we even reached the 70 mile zone..
Some were great and others not so good but it just depended on the buyer...

We did not need a thing and only went for the fun of it all and the day was simply beautiful..
A bit warm but a lovely breeze off of the water..
The scenery was fantastic as always..

We did find a few good buys on a few old things..
Terry bought the big old hand hooked rug..
It is about 6 x 8 and such a wonderful buy at $30.00..
Imagine !!
The smaller one was $10.00 and also a good buy..
Most of the stuff is for the farm ...
The biscuit pillow is for here and will match the velvet crazy quilt in the Living room and it was only $4.00..
The little original painting of a rose went into Shonda's old room and I love the hand sewn book cover and the book is great, too..
The fabric is simply yards plus other pieces were $3.00... smile..
Lace curtains for the farm and old tins for the pantry there when it gets done..

Then we were blessed to find basil and a big basket of tomatoes ..
Terry planted tomatoes but most of them were cherry size for some reason so it was nice to get some to make Roasted Tomato Basil Soup to freeze...
It is delicious...
The link is HERE.. for the recipe..
I used the basil blossoms instead of dried spice and enlarged the recipe...

Then I turned the basil into Pesto which should last for quite awhile as it made a couple of big batches..
I freeze that into ice cube trays and add a cube or two to spaghetti, soups, sandwiches and such...

We had taken our lunch since we didn't want to slow down ...
We ate at the lighthouse and it tasted so good as we were hungry and hot..
Egg sandwiches, fresh tomatoes, blueberry muffins and such..

Anyway...
All in all it was a great day and a lovely way to wrap up the Summer..
We were home by 8 o'clock and I had a shower and went right to bed..
This old gal ain't what she used to be.. lol..

We went to church the next morning and was blessed to hear the Word of the Lord and worship with some of the sweetest people on earth..
Good to be home... smile...

Well, luvies...
This is all for tonight..
Hope you enjoyed the post and take care...

Looking forward to hearing from you..

God Bless...
